10 college football opening lines to know for Week 10: Bama favored big at LSU

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Washington Huskies will both be putting undefeated records on the line this weekend as road betting favorites at the sportsbooks.

John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The Alabama Crimson Tide are 5-0 straight up and 3-1-1 against the spread in their last five games against the LSU Tigers. The Crimson Tide hope to pick up a sixth straight win over their SEC West rivals this Saturday in Death Valley.

Alabama is a 7-point road favorite in Louisiana at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. With an 8-0 SU and 6-2 ATS record that includes plenty of quality wins, the Crimson Tide are deserving of their No. 1 ranking in the AP Top 25.

But a perfect regular season is far from a sure thing for Alabama with this road game and the Iron Bowl against Auburn still looming on the schedule. LSU is 8-3 SU in its last 11 games played in Week 10.

Washington survived a close call against Utah last Saturday with a late kick return, but failed to cover the spread as a 10-point favorite. Cal has won each of its last five games at home.

Ohio State scratched out a win at home against Northwestern on Saturday, winning just 24-20 as a 26-point favorite. It was the fourth straight game in which the Buckeyes had failed to cover the spread. Nebraska’s undefeated season came to an end in a 23-17 loss to Wisconsin on Saturday, but the Cornhuskers improved to 5-2-1 ATS after covering the spread as a 9-point underdog.

This Saturday, Nebraska will be a 14-point underdog on the road against Ohio State. The Buckeyes are just 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games at home per the OddsShark College Football Database.

The Penn State Nittany Lions carried the momentum of their upset win over Ohio State into a blowout road win over Purdue last Saturday, crushing the 14.5-point spread with a 62-24 victory.

The Nittany Lions are now 4-0 SU and 3-0-1 ATS over their last four games, and will be going off as a 5.5-point favorite at home against Iowa this week. Iowa is 8-3 SU and 7-4 ATS in its last 11 games against Penn State.
