Florida State vs. Miami 2016 odds: Canes favored to break streak at 6

The Florida State Seminoles will be looking to break a two-game ACC losing streak as they take on the Miami Hurricanes as road underdogs on Saturday night.

Logan Bowles-USA TODAY Sports

The Florida State Seminoles are 6-0 straight up and 3-3 against the spread in their last six games against the Miami Hurricanes. The Seminoles will try to get their season back on track with a win this Saturday in Miami (assuming the game isn’t moved due to Hurricane Matthew, which could change the spread as well).

Florida State is a 3-point road underdog on Saturday night at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. FSU had been favored in each of the last five games between these two in-state rivals.

Just five games into the 2016 season, the Seminoles have fallen from potential playoff contender down to virtually out of the conference title picture with an 0-2 SU and ATS start to the team’s ACC play.

Losing to a red-hot Louisville on the road was an understandable loss for the Seminoles, but last Saturday’s 37-35 loss to North Carolina as a 10-point home favorite was a head-scratcher. One season after over-performing in a rebuilding year at 10-3 SU and 8-5 ATS, Florida State is slipping in what was supposed to be a contending year in 2016.

In Florida State’s last 12 games as a road underdog, the Seminoles are just 4-8 SU and 5-7 ATS per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Miami -3 / 64.5 Points

Trend: Florida State is 6-0 SU in its last six games against Miami.

Trend: Florida State is 5-0 ATS in its last five games after a loss.

It’s only been four games into the Mark Richt era at Miami, but so far, so good for the Hurricanes. The team has won all four of its first four games by at least 14 points, opening up the season with a 4-0 SU and ATS record.

In their last five games going off as a favorite of three points or less at home, Miami is 5-0 SU and ATS.

Saturday night’s total is set at 64.5 points. The UNDER is 15-2 in Miami’s last 17 games coming off a loss in the previous game of a head-to-head matchup. Florida State beat Miami 29-24 at home last season.

Looking down the schedule, Miami avoids Louisville and Clemson during the regular season and gets this week’s game against Florida State and next week’s game against North Carolina at home. If the Hurricanes can win those two games, they could make the ACC title game down the line against Clemson or Louisville a lot more interesting.
