The status of this game was up in the air for most of the week, due to Hurricane Matthew being anticipated to hit the East Coast of the United States pretty hard. Kickoff was slated for Saturday evening in Columbia, S.C., until South Carolina head coach Will Muschamp announced on Thursday that it was moved to Sunday afternoon, per the SEC’s decision. The game will still be played in South Carolina.

“Due to the potential impact of the hurricane on Columbia and the surrounding area, it is in the best interest of safety to play the game on Sunday rather than Saturday night,” SEC Commissioner Greg Sankey said in a statement. “I appreciate the cooperation of the schools who worked closely to make the appropriate operational adjustments in order to accommodate this change in the schedule.”
Georgia enters this game coming off of an emotional loss to Tennessee. The Vols converted a miraculous Hail Mary touchdown to beat the Dawgs 34-31. South Carolina, on the other hand, hasn’t beaten an SEC East team since it’s 13-10 win over Vanderbilt during Week 1.

Three big things to know
1. South Carolina’s offense has struggled mightily this year: The unit is currently ranked 124th in the country in total offense, averaging just 302 yards per game. Not to mention, the Gamecocks haven’t been able to score 20 points in a single game all season. Georgia’s defense is ranked 56th in the country in total defense through five weeks.
2. Georgia running back Nick Chubb is expected to play: The junior running back was limited to just one carry against Tennessee last week, due to an ankle injury. Chubb fully participated in practice on Monday in a non-contact jersey, and per head coach Kirby Smart, he will be full-go for Sunday’s game. Chubb has 425 yards on 84 carries and three touchdowns so far this season.
3. Georgia hasn’t won in Columbia, S.C., since 2008: Former South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier fared well against Georgia when his teams played the Bulldogs at home. The Gamecocks won consecutive home games against Georgia in 2010, 2012, and 2014. The last time these two played at Williams-Brice Stadium in 2014, No. 24 South Carolina upset No. 6 Georgia, 38-35.
