Big 12 refs let a Texas DB get away with ‘NFL Blitz’-style pass interference

Didn’t realize you could do this!

Remember “NFL Blitz?” The football game in which you could just tackle opposing receivers before the ball even arrived? The Texas Longhorns do!

FS1

Here we have two Texas defenders colliding with Oklahoma’s Geno Lewis more than a second before the ball is even in the immediate vicinity.

The pass from Baker Mayfield was probably too high, but according to Fox Sports 1, officials didn’t signal that it was uncatchable. Even still, it probably should’ve been a penalty on Texas’ Brandon Jones, as it was a targeting-like hit on a defenseless player.

The ball ended up being intercepted and run back to set up a field goal, which could be a crucial three points in a game that’s off to a low-scoring start.

OU didn’t have a chance at the catch, but that’s kind of beside the point here!
