Baylor QB Seth Russell is out for the season
The Bears’ senior quarterback suffered a fractured ankle against Oklahoma on Saturday.

Russell’s left ankle twisted in a way that looked quite dangerous and painful. His entire left leg was wrapped up when he left Memorial Stadium on a cart.
Baylor confirmed that Russell would have season-ending surgery on his ankle this week.
“Seth worked so hard to come back from the neck injury, and it’s not about losing the talent and production at quarterback, it’s more just like having one of your own children hurt,” acting head coach Jim Grobe said in the official release. “It breaks your heart to see a really, really good guy get hurt like that. Just really, really sad because you love the kid so much.”
Russell, understandably, looked devastated, but he kept himself together.
As Russell left the field, Oklahoma players — including Jordan Evans, who tackled him — showed Russell some solidarity.
A year ago, Russell suffered a neck injury and missed the home stretch of Baylor’s season. His injury on Saturday looked bad, too, and anything that results in Russell missing more time during his senior season is a real shame.
Baylor’s backup quarterback, freshman Zach Smith, replaced Russell in the game, in which Oklahoma has a comfortable lead.
