The PSU-Indiana broadcast spent 2 minutes on these kids trying to get footballs out of a tree

Middle America children embark upon Goonies-style adventure to retrieve sporting goods.

No. 10 Penn State is taking on Indiana in a pretty critical Big Ten matchup on Saturday afternoon. But during ABC’s broadcast of the game, the focus briefly went to something completely unrelated.

One of the camera crews captured these kids, who were trying to rescue footballs that were stuck in a nearby tree.

Apparently, one of the kids punted a football into the tree and it got stuck. They then tried to use other footballs to get them out. Those got stuck, too. Eventually, a whole bunch of people were involved.

The funniest part about this whole thing was how long ABC spent following this story. All in all, it was about two minutes — a pretty long time, considering it’s unrelated to the game.

People started calling for ABC to go back to showing the kids, which happened.

Thankfully, they were able to rescue the footballs from the tree before all was said and done. Shout-out to these crazy kids for giving us some pretty funny off-the-field drama.
