Hello. I bet you’d like to see a backward punt. Here’s one from Minnesota-Nebraska:
Hi, here’s a Nebraska punt that went for negative-2 yards
Ball, you look lost.

That beauty got away from Caleb Lightbourn and ended up being downed two yards shy of the line of scrimmage.
“That went straight up the elevator shaft,” BTN’s Kevin Kugler immediately commented, delivering one of the best calls of a terrible incident so far this year.
The Gophers scored a touchdown with the short field and currently lead, 17-10, meaning this bizarre kick could play a role in the Big Ten West standings and decide who brings home the internet’s favorite college football rivalry trophy.
Backward punts happen sometimes. Here was one from earlier in the year, by UCLA:
As you can see, it’s almost always a certain kind of punt that ends up losing yardage. It goes way too vertical, then takes a bad bounce.
It’s been a phenomenal Saturday of punting in the Big Ten. Iowa’s punter managed to draw three Michigan penalties in a single quarter, making him the Hawkeyes’ deadliest offensive weapon.
