Florida vs. LSU 2016 odds: Tigers are double-digit favorites in rescheduled game

The LSU Tigers host the Florida Gators as double-digit betting favorites on Saturday afternoon in a game rescheduled from its original date back in October.

Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

The LSU Tigers are 5-1 straight up and against the spread in their last six games against the Florida Gators. In a game that was rescheduled to this Saturday due to Hurricane Matthew, the Tigers host the Gators at Tiger Stadium.

LSU is a 13.5-point home favorite in Baton Rouge at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. The Tigers opened as a 10.5-point favorite, but early action has moved the line three full points in their favor.

Ed Orgeron continues to make the case that he is the right man for the LSU job as the Tigers play well under their interim coach. LSU bounced back from a tough loss against Alabama with a 38-10 road win over Arkansas, improving to 4-1 SU and ATS over its last five games. All four of those wins came by at least 17 points.

The Tigers rank sixth in the nation in scoring defense allowing 13.9 points per game, but have also scored 38 or more points in four of their five games under Orgeron.

In nine November games played since 2014, the Tigers are 3-6 SU and 3-5-1 ATS, per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: LSU -13.5 / 37.5 Points

Trend: The visiting team is 1-4 SU and ATS in its last five games in this matchup.

Trend: The total has gone UNDER in seven of LSU’s last nine games.

Florida has put together a respectable 7-2 SU and 4-5 ATS record this season, but critics would argue that the Gators have been major beneficiaries of a soft schedule. The Gators have been favored by at least 10 points in six of their nine games this season, and in the two games where they were less than 6.5-point favorites, the team lost by double-digits.

With the last two games of the season coming on the road against LSU and Florida State, Florida has the chance to prove its doubters wrong in some tough matchups.

Saturday’s total is set at 37.5 points. The UNDER is 7-2 in LSU’s last nine games overall.

When two of the top six scoring defenses in the nation collide, points figure to be at a premium. LSU’s homefield advantage and superior offense give the Tigers the edge, but this game could be closer than the spread indicates if Florida’s defense is able to contain Leonard Fournette.
