Things haven’t gone as expected for Jimbo Fisher’s Florida State football team this season. The team that entered the as College Football Playoff contenders now enters Week 12 sitting a 7-3, and is completely out of the postseason conversation. Although Florida State plays Syracuse this weekend, a big part of the focus in Tallahassee has been on coach Fisher this week.
Florida State vs. Syracuse 2016: Start time, live stream, TV schedule, and 3 things to know
Florida State has beaten Syracuse in each of the last three meetings.

Fisher has reportedly been contacted by LSU this week, and the rumors have been starting to fly as to whether or not he could potentially jump and take the job. The head coach, of course, has denied them.
Aside from the coaching change rumors, there is still a game to be played on Saturday for the ‘Noles, and it’s against the Syracuse Orange. Dino Babers’ team is 4-6 on the season, but they did have an upset win over then-No. 17 Virginia Tech last month. Ironically enough, the ‘Noles enter this week as the 17th-ranked team in the country.

Three big things to know
1. Florida State holds a win streak over Syracuse: In the three seasons that Syracuse has been in the ACC, the ‘Noles have won all three of their meetings against the Orange. In fact, the games have been decided by relatively large margins: Florida State has won by an average of 33 points in the last three years.
2. Dalvin Cook will likely break an FSU school record: The junior who will presumably declare for the 2017 NFL draft after this season, is just a mere 19 yards away from breaking former ‘Nole running back Warrick Dunn’s 20-year-old FSU career rushing record of 3,959 yards. Last week, Cook had 108 yards against Boston College.
3. Syracuse starting quarterback Eric Dungey is likely out: He didn’t play in last week’s 35-20 loss to NC State after previously being listed as questionable. Dungey was knocked out of Syracuse’s loss to Clemson on Nov. 5 after suffering a hard hit to the head-and-shoulder area early in the game. Backup Zack Mahoney will likely start in Dungey’s place. Last week against NC State, Mahoney went 14-of-25 passing for 190 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
