Ohio State rolls out its black matte ‘cannonball’ helmets against Michigan

Looking good, Bucks.

Sometimes you can mess with tradition.

Typically, Ohio State rocks the gray britches with scarlet tops and the famous gray helmets. By this time of the year, the more talented players on the team can have buckeye pride stickers covering as much as half of one side. But Ohio State is throwing that out the window today and blending old school and new.

Here are those hats when Ohio State wore them earlier this month.

But it’s not the only new thing about Ohio State’s uniforms today. The Buckeyes will have a different look on their heads as well as their feet. Ohio State superfan LeBron James leveraged his partnership with Nike to outfit the team with cleats patterned after his new signature shoe.

It’s such a big deal, that even infants born in the Columbus area will sport the footwear. No word yet on if there are similar special helmets for the youngsters as well.
