Jim Harbaugh was furious about penalties throughout the Ohio State game

Inconsistent officiating may be a factor today.

Jim Harbaugh would like the referees to call the game the same way, thank you very much.

But he’s very much justified in his frustration. On Ohio State’s first drive, Michigan got flagged for defensive holding:

It’s fairly clear that was the right call. But this play went uncalled on Ohio State:

As a ref, maybe you could argue WR Amara Darboh tripped, but it’s clear cornerback Marshon Lattimore was grabbing Darboh’s shoulders.

Harbaugh isn’t the only Michigan man upset about the officiating. Wolverines cornerback Jeremy Clark (who was lost to an ACL injury) reacted on Twitter about the way the game was being played.

In a rivalry that needs no excuse to gin up further animus, it’s yet another spot of ammunition for the hatred. And don’t think Harbaugh is going to let this go anytime soon either. After a later pass interference call he disagreed with ended up with his postgame sentiments, and he certainly didn’t mince words.
