Central Florida’s playing against South Florida on Saturday, and the Knights decided to hit the Bulls with a delightful and gorgeous reverse touchdown pass.
UCF drops a gorgeous 72-yard trick play TD on USF
Yes, Knights, this will do just fine.

There’s nothing groundbreaking about the play call. Running back Dontravious Wilson takes a sweep handoff toward the left sideline, and receiver Tristan Payton runs the other way and collects a pitch from him. UCF’s offensive linemen all stay well behind the 3-yard downfield blocking range, and receiver Tre’Quan Smith takes off into the USF secondary. Payton hits him, and Smith runs away for a 72-yard touchdown.
Wide receiver reverses into long passes are not that uncommon, but college receivers often have a hard time executing them. Payton uncorks a perfectly accurate throw from his own 17-yard line to USF’s 31, traveling a whopping 52 yards in the air. Smith squeezes it and shakes a bunch of dudes, and the result is pure beauty.
USF’s winning, but if you count style points, maybe not.
