Joe Namath kissed Verne Lundquist while wearing a fur coat during the Iron Bowl

Roll damn Joe Willie Namath.

An absolute legend walked into the booth today to call the Auburn-Alabama game live on our televisions. Oh, and Joe Namath was there too.

Our wonderful uncle Verne Lundquist has been on a retirement tour all season. He’s gotten gifts from many schools, including LSU and Ole Miss, and this week (because he’s at the Iron Bowl) Alabama became the most recent school to celebrate the SEC treasure.

But that wasn’t the only surprise, because Bama alum Joe Namath waltzed into the booth in the first half and gave Lundquist quite the surprise.

“I’ve been surprised a few times this season, that was a stunner,” Lundquist said. Namath spent some time in the booth and broke down the game. He joked that next year they could hang out and “we can break curfew the night before the game.” And you bet he put on the trademark fur coat.

And then he left, just as quickly as he came, but not before showing Lundquist some love on his way out.

Awwwwwwww.
