There is no omen in all of sports more foreboding than a big thump that snuffs out a team’s first play to begin the second half, particularly if that team is a highly ranked favorite that is down 21-7 on the road.

Some wondered whether this was targeting, but all contact appears to be shoulder-to-shoulder, Mitchell’s eyes are up (the single most important part of the rule), and he’s clearly not launching upward. This was a clean hit, according to the rules.
