After beating Navy, Army gets to sing second for the first time in 15 years

Worth the wait.

Army beat Navy 21-17 on Saturday afternoon for the first time in 15 years. The last time the Black Knights beat Navy was during the 26-17 win over the Midshipmen in 2001.

Per tradition, both of the teams join together and sing the losing team’s alma mater as a symbol of respect. After this, the two teams stand in front of the winning team’s student section to sing the winning team’s alma mater. For the first time in 15 years, Army finally got to sing its alma mater last.

The alma mater scene after the victory was chill-worthy, and you could tell how special a moment it was for Army after waiting 15 long years to go last.

Army managed to have control of the game throughout, going to the locker room with a 14-0 lead at halftime. Navy did attempt to make a comeback in the second half, scoring 17 unanswered points to take a 17-14 lead, but an Army touchdown with six minutes left in the game put the game on ice.

Congrats, Black Knights, you earned it.
