From the well-informed Mike Rutherford's daily Louisville notes roundup at Card Chronicle:
Adidas wanted Lamar Jackson to wear Yeezy cleats. He’d only do it if his whole team could.

A lot of Louisville people raised a fuss during the early part of the season when they started seeing some NFL and college players sporting adidas’ “Yeezy” cleats, but no Louisville Cardinals wearing them.
(In case you need any of that explained: Yeezys are the expensive shoes in an Adidas series designed by Kanye West, NFL players have gotten bolder about their shoe choices this season, and Louisville is a marquee Adidas program. If Mississippi State coaches can be out here wearing the hard-to-obtain shoes, then why would Adidas not want to draw more attention to its associations with the eventual Heisman winner?)
What actually went down is that before the Florida State game, adidas came to U of L and said they wanted Lamar Jackson -- who was in the midst of his full-on star turn -- to sport the Yeezys for the big game against the ‘Noles. U of L signed off on it, but Lamar did not. He said matter of factly that if the whole team couldn’t wear them, then he wasn’t going to. Hence, no Cardinals wearing Yeezy cleats this season.
A gesture of camaraderie by Jackson, who’s by all accounts a good dude. If someone were to try to give me shoes worth hundreds of dollars or (much) more, I do not think I would refuse to wear them unless my podcastmates also got them. But now, if that scenario occurs, I’ll remember Lamar’s example.
He’d still get to treat his feet, wearing Fendi designer loafers to the Heisman ceremony (along with his phenomenal Macy’s tuxedo coat). He just wouldn’t leave any teammates un-dapper in the process.

So coach-hiring season is already done? Just like that? Bill C grades it all, finding everybody but the Mountain West did a pretty good job!
You’re not going to believe this, but Bobby Petrino might not’ve been telling the whole truth about something. This time: Wakeyleaks.
Oregon’s president put some public pressure on Willie Taggart by calling for a “great” defensive coordinator hire. Delivered: Colorado’s Jim Leavitt, who’s done the Pac-12’s best recent job of improving pretty much anything.
Ed Orgeron pointing out the adaptability of new OC Matt Canada’s offenses is probably a great idea, considering the last, uh, forever at LSU.
Wednesday was a big recruiting day (for more on that kind of thing, subscribe to Bud Elliott’s recruiting-specific newsletter): JUCO Signing Day. Landing new four-stars in general were Arkansas, Boston College (a Michigan flip), Louisville, Michigan, Mississippi State (x2), and Utah.
Almost half of Jim Harbaugh’s first FBS coaching staff would go on to become head coaches, now that former QB coach Mike Sanford has the WKU job.
FAU signs the QB who was booted by Florida State for punching a woman on camera. This was in the works before Lane Kiffin took over, for whatever that’s worth.
