Western Michigan’s offense had been struggling throughout the first half against Ohio. Then Corey Davis did this:
Western Michigan saved its longest play of the year for this MAC Championship touchdown
He did go all the way.

The 70-yard touchdown is the 50th TD connection between Davis and QB Zach Terrell and Davis’ 51st TD overall. It’s also the longest play from scrimmage for Western Michigan in 2016. The QB-WR duo is second all-time in FBS TD hookups, and the record is well within reach (a Rice tandem leads with 51). The hype has been growing around Davis all season and the talented WR might even go in the first round of the NFL Draft. He’s currently slotted late in the first round in our Dan Kader’s most recent mock draft.
Adding a big outside receiver to New England’s offense could really put it over the top. Davis has been a star hidden away in the Mid-American Conference, but his talent transcends. He’s a big target who can outmuscle defensive backs, and has enough speed and quickness to pull away in the open field.
That quickness was on full display here, and Ohio coach Frank Solich’s face said it all.
