2016 Texas Bowl odds: Kansas State set as underdog against Texas A&M

The Kansas State Wildcats will face a road atmosphere in the Texas Bowl as underdogs in Houston against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Jim Cowsert-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas State Wildcats are 1-7 straight up and against the spread in their last eight postseason games. The Wildcats will try to break out of their bowl slump in the Texas Bowl facing off against the Texas A&M Aggies.

Kansas State is a 2.5-point underdog in Houston at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last 14 games after winning as an underdog, the Wildcats are 13-1 SU.

The Wildcats ended the 2016 regular season on a high note with a 5-1 SU and 3-3 ATS record, winning outright as an underdog three times in victories over Texas, Baylor, and TCU.

Kansas State won each of its last three games by an average margin of victory of 20 points per game, holding its opponents to just 15.3 points per game over that stretch. Working with limited resources, head coach Bill Snyder continues to get the most out of his teams year in and year out.

This was a fitting bowl game for Kansas State to wind up in given their record against teams from Texas this season. The Wildcats are 4-0 SU and 3-1 ATS in four games against Texas teams.

Betting Line / Total: Texas A&M -2.5 / 57.5 Points

Trend: Texas A&M is 0-4 ATS in its last four games against Kansas State.

Trend: Kansas State is 13-1 SU in its last 14 games after winning as an underdog.

Texas A&M went into its road game against Alabama on Oct. 22 with a 6-0 SU and 4-2 ATS record and a chance to take over control of the SEC West. The Aggies lost that game 33-14, sparking a 2-4 SU and 0-6 ATS skid to end the season.

Despite the fact that Texas A&M has struggled in the second halves of their last few regular seasons, the Aggies have enjoyed some bowl success with a 4-1 SU and 3-2 ATS record in their last five postseason games per the OddsShark College Football Database.

The total for this game is set at 57.5 points. The OVER is 8-2 in the last 10 games between these two teams.

Riding an 0-8 ATS slump into this bowl game, the Aggies will need to draw on what should be a favorable crowd for some extra motivation to end the season on a high note. Texas A&M has the more talented team on paper, but Kansas State enters bowl season with a lot more momentum.
