Louisiana-Lafayette head coach Mark Hudspeth is probably just foolin’ on April Fools’ Day, but he shouldn’t be.
This Louisiana-Lafayette crawfish helmet is too good to just be an April Fools’ joke
This is probably, totally a joke. But it shouldn’t be, Mark Hudspeth.

This appears to be a crawfish-based football helmet. It’d be much better than the relatively drab look the Ragin’ Cajuns have sported in the recent past. There’s also never a bad time to put a crustacean on a piece of protective headgear, and UL-Lafayette could become the talk of college football’s fashion industry by making such a change. The helmet could also be part of a helpful recipe for LSU fans.
Hudspeth’s UL-Lafayette team went on a good run over his first four years there, going 9-4 every year and winning four consecutive New Orleans Bowls in their home state. But the Ragin’ Cajuns stumbled to 4-8 last season, so it stands to reason they could be looking for an injection of excitement in the middle of their offseason.
(The above is a petty rationalization of something that probably isn’t true.)
If this is a joke – and it is probably a joke – Hudspeth should reverse course immediately and make it real.
