How to watch April 16’s dozens of college football spring games on TV or online

It’s the year’s biggest spring games day! Below, the full guide for those who just need a little football.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

You! Yes, you, person on the couch with a laptop or in bed with phone in hand. Do you know when your favorite college football team is extruding a football-like substance known as a “spring game” this Saturday? No?

Well, it’s good that you’ve navigated here, because literally dozens of spring games are taking place on this otherwise low-key mid-April Saturday. Many big-time programs are in action, like 2014 national champion Ohio State (which could break its own attendance record with 100,000) and 2015 national champion Alabama, and new-coach-smellin’ Miami and Georgia.

Alas, ESPN is televising something called professional basketball for much of this day, and this is a problem for you, fan of at least one college football program. Good thing we took the liberty of putting together this TV schedule -- yes, Alabama’s spring game will be broadcast on national television, just like Kentucky’s -- and online streaming guide, to make sure that you get exactly as much of this spring football as you can tolerate without sighing and asking a significant other, friend or pet,“Is it September yet?”

Use it wisely. Or don’t. There are only so many spring Saturdays in your life, and you don’t have to spend this one watching a glorified practice with weird scoring in the hopes that this is the year your coach won’t bite through his lip while watching his offensive line.

Here’s that schedule, for the spring football games of Saturday, April 16. (All times are Eastern. Some streaming links may require credentials or subscription.) Check your team’s blog for more coverage.
