College football is a sport stuffed to the gills with incredible names. One of the brightest stars in this galaxy is Michigan defensive end Taco Charlton. His real name is Vidaunte, but he’s gone by Taco since he was a kid, and for that we’re all extremely happy.
Michigan’s Taco Charlton tried not to love tacos. In the end, tacos won.
Taco eventually listened to his heart, which knew the truth the whole time.

Tony Paul of The Detroit News spoke with Charlton about whether he actually likes tacos or not. I don’t typically deal in spoilers here, but here’s the scoop: He does like tacos. He loves ‘em. But that hasn’t always been the story.
It’s easy for athletes to go through the motions when discussing things like this, but Charlton cannot hide his feelings. He really does love his namesake. He had to overcome a rocky start, which honestly makes sense. If everyone called you “Taco” when you were a little kid and probably asked if you loved tacos all the time, I’d probably hate them too. But we all grow up eventually, and Taco did too.
Will he succeed in changing every day of the week to Taco Tuesday? Is this better than the video from last season that replaced Charlton on film with a taco emoji? We will find out someday.
