Texas A&M had a pretty impressive 31-24 victory over No. 16 UCLA to start off the season 1-0. The Aggie defense looked particularly impressive -- they were able to pressure Bruins quarterback Josh Rosen consistently, sacking him five times and picking him off three times.

But defense wasn’t the only thing impressive about the Aggies in Week 1. Quarterback Trevor Knight completed 22 of 42 passes for 239 yards, and he had the overtime touchdown drive to seal the win over the Bruins. This week, the Aggies welcome another A&M in Prairie View A&M on Saturday.
The Panthers, who are members of the SWAC, have a pretty historic football tradition. In the 1950s, 1960s and early 1970s, PVAMU was one of the most dominant football programs in the country. In recent years, the program has successfully emerged from one of the worst losing streaks ever in the 1990s to be a legitimate contender to win the SWAC.

Three big things to know
1. Kevin Sumlin has a chance to go into TAMU’s record books with a win. There are a couple of things at stake on Saturday. The Aggies will try and get to 2-0 for a fourth straight season under Kevin Sumlin. That hasn’t been done at Texas A&M since Emory Bellard won consecutive games to open the season from 1974-78. A win by the Aggies would also be the 38th of Sumlin’s career at Texas A&M and would move him into a tie for sixth-most in school history with Charles B. “Uncle Charley” Moran, who coached the Aggies from 1909-14 (38-8-4 record).
2. This is the first meeting between these two Texas schools. Although they lie just 50 miles from one another, this matchup wasn’t announced until last year. Both are part of the state’s A&M University system. The Panthers have also won their last seven games in a row, dating back to last season.
3. Aggies should be cautious about looking ahead to SEC play. Before you take that the wrong way here, I am not saying TAMU should be on upset alert or anything. The point is simply that the Aggies will open SEC play next week with a road game against the Auburn Tigers, who looked arguably better than expected against No. 2 Clemson last week.
