Minnesota’s Tai’yon Devers rounded the corner with bad intentions, and Colorado State QB Collin Hill just so happened to be in his way. It eerily looked similar to the famous Jadeveon Clowney hit from 2013.

There were some notable candidates here, but it’s hard to not go with LSU. They were the preseason No. 5 team, and after losing to then-unranked Wisconsin and dropping a road game to Auburn on Saturday night, they are all but officially out, and so is head coach Les Miles.

Yes, they can still technically win out and win the SEC, but that’s unlikely. And I don’t see the committee putting in a two-loss SEC champ if you have several undefeated or one-loss teams who are worthy of a bid.

Tennessee took on Florida and did precisely what every Vol fan feared they’d do for a 12th straight year: completely blow it. It appeared they were headed that way, going down 21-3 at halftime.

After a Florida player used a 1990s Martin Lawrence quote to guarantee a victory against Tennessee earlier in the week, Vols head coach Butch Jones quoted it during UT’s post-victory celebration. You can hear it here:

Also, Clemson is good again! The Tigers went into Bobby Dodd and proved that this wasn’t the same Clemson team that lost the last five on the road to the Yellow Jackets. Clemson would dominate throughout and win easily by a score of 26-7.

This one has to go to Wisconsin. Even after the Badgers opened with that impressive win over LSU, the narrative was more about what that game meant to LSU, and less about how good the Badgers were.

They dominated Michigan State throughout the game on Saturday and are now in the driver’s seat to take the Big Ten West. Sorry it took us four weeks to be convinced, Wisconsin.

The aforementioned Wisconsin and Texas A&M jumped up in the top 10 in this week’s polls. TAMU looked dang good against Arkansas in Jerry World, so the Aggies checked in at No. 9, and Wisconsin moved up to No. 8 in both polls. So, we’ve now got three Big Ten teams in the top 10, so go #B1G!

There really wasn’t all that many changes due to basically everyone up top winning.

Stanford head coach David Shaw’s Stanford team was trailing UCLA 13-9 with 4:40 left in the game. On fourth-and-1 from Stanford’s own 39-yard line, instead of going for it, Shaw elected to punt, later citing the trust he has in his defense.

“We don’t go for it, we never go for it, not with the defense we had,” Shaw said after the game. “Coincidentally I had a conversation with my wife about that this morning. If it’s midfield or the other side of the field, you might do something different, but in that situation you punt it every single time. And then you get the ball back and you run your plays. There are all those statistical things about what you should do, and that stuff doesn’t matter to us. Punting in those situations is the smart thing to do.”

Stanford’s 6’3, 263-pounds defensive end Solomon Thomas recovered a Josh Rosen fumble. He then proceeded to take it to the house to seal a Stanford victory, and he beautifully put his name in the hat for the Piesman Trophy in the process.

The refs during the Penn State-Michigan game gave us hands-down the worst targeting call we’ve seen all season. Penn State linebacker Brandon Smith was ejected for targeting after he was clearly diving after a loose ball.
