Deshaun Watson spun in the air like a helicopter on a crushing hit from 2 Alabama defenders

That’s a lot of mass making impact at a high speed.

Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson can scoot. So on a third-and-15 against Alabama in Monday’s National Championship, he scooted. Alabama pressured Watson and flushed him from the pocket, and he took off for the first-down marker.

The Tide turned Watson into a human helicopter. Bama safety Minkah Fitzpatrick hit Watson around his left knee, and linebacker Reuben Foster nailed him shoulder-to-chest, sending Watson spinning like a small aircraft.

That’s what happens when two world-class athletes hit another, in different directions, while all three are moving at a high speed.

Watson came to rest on a landing pad (read: the grass) a yard short of his line to gain, so Alabama’s hit fulfilled its purpose. Clemson punted on the next play, with the Tide clinging to a field goal lead in the third quarter.

Fortunately, Watson seemed OK. If things go the way the Tide want, Fitzpatrick and Foster will be on a championship highlight reel for years to come.
