Louisville is not great this season, but this is a stunner anyway: The Cardinals lost at home to Boston College on Saturday, 45-42. The Eagles’ Colton Lichtenberg knocked through a 27-yard field goal as time expired. After the game, B.C. hit the Cardinals with this brutal meme, making it all even worse:

At two different points in the fourth quarter, B.C. had a two-touchdown lead. Louisville has since cut it to seven points and was driving with six minutes left. The Cardinals battled back to tie the game after that, but a Louisville fumble with less than two minutes to play gave the ball to B.C. with a chance to win. And the Eagles did.
Boston College entered the day scoring 16.3 points per game, which is a typically miserable total for a program that’s become synonymous with awful offense. The Eagles were 121st in the country in scoring before Saturday’s outburst.
The last time Boston College scored 45 points in a game was Sept. 12, 2015, when it dropped 76 on FCS Howard. The last time it did so against an FBS team was Nov. 9, 2013, against New Mexico State. The last time it did so against a not utterly terrible FBS team was Oct. 17, 2009, when it scored 52 against NC State.
Louisville isn’t what it was last season, and Lamar Jackson has had difficult moments this year. For a while, Boston College held Jackson pretty well in check in both the passing and running games, but he eventually finished with huge numbers. Louisville’s defense somehow got blown to bits against one of the most inept offenses in the country. Louisville might not be good this year, but there’s no good reason for that team to ever lose to B.C. at home.
