Last weekend, the Auburn Tigers let a 20-0 lead dissolve into an upset loss to LSU. Now, with their College Football Playoff hopes on life support, they’ll have to right their ship on the road. The Tigers will face the Arkansas Razorbacks on Saturday night in hopes of getting back in the win column; kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET and will be broadcast on the SEC Network (live stream).

A win over the Tigers could save Bret Bielema’s job in Fayetteville.

The Razorbacks can notch the biggest win of their season by dispatching Auburn, but the odds aren’t in their favor. Arkansas is just 2-4 this season as the temperature of head coach Bret Bielema’s seat grows. The team’s only two wins this season have come against Florida A&M and New Mexico State. The Tigers exist on a whole different plane than those programs.

Auburn at Arkansas news:
The No. 10 Auburn Tigers were upset by LSU, 27-23 on Saturday, thanks to a 20-point comeback from Ed Orgeron’s team in Tiger Stadium. This means a huge boost of confidence in what Coach O’s doing, but just looking at the numbers, this was an incredible comeback.
In fact, Auburn had a damn 96 percent chance of winning the game when it went up 20-0 in the second quarter.
- Here’s Arkansas’ season so far, summed up in one convenient GIF.
- In reality, Alabama-Arkansas went just about how the Razorbacks expected.
Arkansas was clearly outclassed in just about every phase of the game, especially when it came to running the ball. Something that should be a staple of Arkansas teams but isn’t this year. The biggest takeaway of the night was the positive play of Cole Kelley.
- Figuring out where Auburn goes from here could be as simple as looking back to 1986.
Auburn is in the middle of a very successful season after the two previous seasons with talented, but underperforming teams. A win keeps Auburn in the hunt for the national championship. Auburn’s dark horse Heisman candidate running back tallies more than 150 yards and a touchdown while Auburn builds a three score lead. Then collapses and loses late in an upset that costs them a share of the SEC title.
Because that’s what happened on November 1, 1986 in Gainesville, Florida.
How will Auburn respond to last week’s loss?
The Tigers watched a 20-point lead evaporate in Baton Rouge, and most of their postseason hopes alongside it. Auburn will have to be perfect from here on out to advance to the SEC Championship, but even a league title may not be enough for a two-loss team to qualify for football’s final four. There’s still a chance, however — and Auburn can prove its not going anywhere by blowing the doors off the Razorbacks Saturday.
Auburn at Arkansas prediction:
The Tigers will be out for blood after blowing a 20-point lead last week to LSU. Arkansas has the talent to hang tough, but Auburn eventually pulls away for a double-digit victory on the road.
