Mississippi State and Texas A&M will face each other on Saturday, and here’s all you need to know.

The Aggies won their last game, a narrow victory over Florida, but before that fell to No. 1 Alabama. They were expected to lose to Alabama, but they did at least keep it close, falling 27-19. Their other loss was a one-point heartbreaker against UCLA in the opening week of the season.
Mississippi State, on the other hand, has losses to then-No. 11 Georgia and then-No. 13 Auburn on its record. Since then, it has won two games by a total of 63 points, beating BYU and Kentucky. They also have a win over then-No. 12 LSU in their third game of the season.
While both teams are doing OK, a pair of losses — and a third for one of them after Saturday, of course — is huge when it comes to the SEC and postseason aspirations. The team that loses Saturday’s game will definitively trail the other for the remainder of the season, barring any significant stumbling blocks in the remaining schedules.
Then again, the Bulldogs have Alabama in their future, while the Aggies will play both Auburn and LSU, so there is plenty of room for things to go awry.

Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M news:
- Texas A&M fans over at Good Bull Hunting are feeling optimistic about their team, especially if they can manage to execute early against Mississippi State:
Ideally, after a week to process the last few games and reset and scheme for this one, Kellen Mond should be able to make more plays earlier in the game and then actually force MSU to adjust to something. If A&M can do that and THEN follow up with some successful runs to the running backs, the Aggies can win this game. If they take until the third quarter to execute offensively, it will be tough.
- Slowing down Bulldogs quarterback Nick Fitzgerald is the top order for the Aggies:
The Bulldogs are a running team, and use the massive Fitzgerald as an effective runner. Last week against Kentucky, Fitzgerald ran for 115 yards and two touchdowns. Fitzgerald has accounted for 20 touchdowns this season with 11 through the air and 9 on the ground. Fitzgerald leads all Bulldogs in rushing with 561 yards. Last year, the Aggies were unable to slow Fitzgerald down and will have to find a way this year to keep the home team streak alive.

Mississippi State vs. Texas A&M prediction:
We expect Texas A&M’s stellar pass rush will be able to get there early and often, and Mississippi State will have trouble handling it. The Aggies opened as narrow favorites and we’ll say they’re probably going to win, though it should be a close one.
