Bowling Green won its 1st game of the season on a damn 99-yard fumble return

#MACtion!

Well, this is a hell of a way to win your first football game of the season. In the fourth quarter, Bowling Green was trailing 30-29 to the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks with two minutes left. Miami was knocking on the Falcons’ door, on their one yard line to be specific, when Falcons linebacker Brandon Harris recovered a fumble and returned it the whole 99 yards for a touchdown.

Miami got the ball back with 1:21 left, but Bowling Green’s defense stopped the offense on downs, which allowed the Falcons to run out the clock with less than 30 seconds left. The victory now brings Bowling Green’s record on the season to 1-5. It took the Falcons a good bit to get that first win of the season, but it has to be more enjoyable when you win it like this.

Miami drops to 2-4 on the season, and 1-1 in conference play.

It’s not the first time a game has been decided by a 99-yard fumble return. Baylor lost to UNLV on the most infamous edition of such a play.
