Someone stole one of Clemson’s national title highway signs. Surely no Gamecock would ever do such a thing!

It’s been missing for a week and a half.

Welp, you don’t hear this everyday. One of the Clemson Tigers’ national championship highway signs has been stolen. Back in March, Clemson announced that 13 highway signs would go on major roads across South Carolina to commemorate the Tigers’ 2016 national title. One of them has been stolen, and this screenshot of a Snapchat showing the apparent stolen sign has been making the rounds on social media:

TigerNet has more:

A replacement sign is due by Thursday, according to SCDOT’s Andrew Leaphart.

Leaphart said it wasn’t the first time one of the signs has been stolen, and the sign costs about $200.

Oconee County Sheriff’s Office Chief Deputy Creed Hashe told WYFF if someone is caught stealing a sign they can be charged with simple larceny, and if found with the sign elsewhere, could be charged with possession of stolen goods.

One of the first signs was unveiled on U.S. 76 last spring.

Per WYFF, the sign that was stolen on U.S. 76 near Tri-County Technical College, which lies less than four miles south of Clemson, has been missing for a week and a half. I’m not saying this actually happened, but if I had to suspect a fan of at least having the idea to do this, I’d say it was a South Carolina Gamecocks one. Not making any assumptions, though!
