In the pantheon of incredibly spectacular punt failures this one is certainly near the top of the list.
Watch this ill-advised fake punt just get worse and worse and worse
And worse and worse.

Western Kentucky punter Jake Collins tries to salvage this fake attempt, and you won’t believe what happens next.
As soon as Collins set off you could tell that things were doomed. The tiptoed delay before he tried to run was kinda odd. But I will say the juke move was adept and showed some pretty good elusiveness.
Then it all absolutely goes to hell. Just fall on it. Please just fall on it.
He doesn’t just fall on it, but gets a second chance to recover it.
Instead, he basically tosses it forward where it collides with an FIU player. That somehow stops it rolling and lets it sit perfectly for the waiting hands of FIU’s D’Vonte Price who would promptly run it in for a score.
Also, a note about game situation: Collins had 12 yards to gain for the first down. This also makes me think that this fake might not have been called, and that Collins may have been freelancing because he thought he could make the first down. Punters do that based on the look of the return alignment and how many players bail out.
To add insult to injury, Collins got called for a penalty on the play as well for illegal batting. It just all went wrong.
