For the second year in a row, Michigan came out on the short end of an important spot call against Ohio State. This one won’t be as famous as that one, but anyway:
Michigan comes out on the short end of a spot call vs. Ohio State, again. It looked like John O’Korn got enough yardage.
Michigan’s latest OSU loss includes another rough spot.

On a third-and-6, Michigan quarterback John O’Korn took off running. The replay above makes it look pretty clear that O’Korn reached the first-down marker, set at Michigan’s 43-yard line. But the officials on the field called O’Korn down a yard short, at the 42, and a video review didn’t lead them to overturn the call. That’s iffy.
OSU ended up winning 31-20, so this call will just be added to the list of Michigan fans who keep a running tab of calls that don’t go their way in this game.
O’Korn’s left foot certainly touched the sideline before he slid further forward, but it looks to me that O’Korn had extended the ball beyond the line to gain by the time his foot went out. His right arm was pretty far outstretched, and while I haven’t Zapruder’d it yet, it just doesn’t make a lot of sense for O’Korn to be short.
