Kentucky picked a fight with Lamar Jackson, who then dunked on the Cats in a blowout win

Some sideline shoving became a whole big thing. Then Jackson went off in a 44-17 win.

During Saturday’s Louisville-Kentucky rivalry game in Lexington, there were several Lamar Jackson-related fireworks, both the regular kind and another kind.

First: Jackson got knocked out of bounds and, in the moments after the play, got into a shoving match with Kentucky’s Jordan Jones.

Their little exchange of pleasantries became a whole thing, with a group of Kentucky players piling on top of Jackson as he wrestled with Jones on the ground.

The episode resulted in offsetting unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, so neither team came off any worse than the other. The Cardinals scored a couple of plays later to take a 14-0 lead. Jones had appeared to keep jawing at Jackson.

Jackson then proceeded to dunk all over the Wildcats.

The final stat line:

  • 15-of-21 passing for 216 yards, two TDs, and no picks
  • 18 rushes for 156 yards

And a huge rivalry win. As Jackson puts it:

Some select highlights include this run:

And this pass:

And a mashup of some of Jackson’s greatest hits:

The most dangerous player in college football is still Lamar Jackson. Just don’t tell that to the people who actually vote on this sport’s awards.

Fights have broken out between these teams before, btw.

Previously, in 2014, a Kentucky player stepped on Louisville’s logo and set off a whole fracas.

Even the coaches got involved in that one:

But at least one guy didn’t:

There might be some extra bad blood between the teams from last year’s meeting in Louisville, too. In that game, Jackson struck a Heisman pose after a long touchdown run but later fumbled in crunch time as the Cards lost at home.
