When J.T. Barrett went down in the third quarter of Ohio State’s, 31-20, win over Michigan, the Buckeyes were forced to turn to Dwayne Haskins Jr., a redshirt freshman who Buckeyes fans were excited about as a recruit.
Meet Dwayne Haskins Jr., Ohio State’s redshirt freshman stud QB
J.T. Barrett went down in the third quarter of the The Game, and it’s Haskins’ show at least for the foreseeable future.

Haskins came in and played really well, going 6-7 for 94 yards.
Haskins was a player from the Washington DC metro that Urban Meyer & Co. were able to pluck out of the DMV when OSU was able to get him to flip his commitment from Maryland.
Haskins was the No. 7 pro style QB in the 247Sports Composite. Earlier in the season as Barrett was struggling, calls were made for Haskins to replace him. He showed off that arm multiple times to the tune of 13.4 yards-per-attempt leading two scoring drives.
Haskins actually got the backup job via injury as well, after backup Joe Burrow went down in fall camp.
Burrow’s injury means he’s out of the running for the backup spot this year, which officially -- by default -- belongs to Dwayne Haskins. Injuries are an unfortunate part of sports and in Burrow’s case, it could’ve cost him a legitimate shot at being the guy under center at Ohio State.
Haskins spoke to us during his recruitment about things he was working on and offensive style he prefers.
On his first drive, Haskins drove the Buckeyes down the field for a go-ahead TD. He put together two more scoring drives in the fourth quarter too, giving the Bucks a 31-20 victory.
With Barrett in the locker room, it looks like it’s on Haskins to take the Buckeyes to the finish line against their bitter rival. No pressure.
