Florida vs. Florida State: The game in which this is somehow not a touchdown.
Watch the single play that best sums up both FSU’s and Florida’s 2017 seasons
This is just perfectly imperfect.

That’s FSU linebacker Matthew Thomas right before he dove for the goal line on what should have been a pick-six. But instead of launching himself he kinda just fell down.
In a game between two 4-6 teams, which FSU ended up winning 38-22, even the clearly better team has to showcase a spot of stunning ineptitude. This matchup deserves nothing less.
Saturday’s game will be the first time since 2011 that both teams enter the game not ranked. That year, Florida State won 21-7 in Gainesville. Overall, this is only the seventh time since 1966 they’re both unranked and only the second since 1987.
Adding insult to injury, Thomas was flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct and so Florida State actually had to sustain something of a mini drive. Sure it was in the red zone, but nothing about FSU’s season means a drive starting in the red zone will end with points.
The Noles did score a few plays later though, and they certainly made it sting against Florida for the fifth year in a row. The Noles ended up grabbing four turnovers, but at least we can all laugh at this one.
