What should I know about the two teams in the Orange Bowl?
Miami (10-2, 7-1 in ACC)
In close game after close game, the Hurricanes found a way to get it done earlier in the season. The Canes beat FSU, Georgia Tech, Syracuse, and UNC by a combined 18 points in four consecutive games. Then they handled Virginia Tech and lambasted Notre Dame.
It looked like a breakthrough, but then injuries and roster attrition caught up with UM. Miami fell to Pitt on rivalry weekend. Against Clemson in the ACC Championship Game, the Canes didn’t have anything for a Clemson team running on all cylinders. The 38-3 loss was the end of the Playoff hopes, and a sour note at the end of a special regular season in South Florida. But Miami can have a fun ending in the bowl game even if it’s not the postseason destination the Hurricanes originally wanted.

Wisconsin (12-1, 9-0 in Big Ten)
Death, taxes, and Wisconsin? The Badgers are consistently good, and for a few weeks looked occasionally great. But we saw what happened when a team with vastly superior talent gets ahold of the Badgers like Ohio State did in the Big Ten title game. The Buckeyes were able to get past the Badgers and put a sour end to what has been a pretty special season in Madison.
But we’ve seen that a consistent Wisconsin team will at least be a really tough out for any opponent, and its style of ball can certainly travel in bowl season.
