What should I know about the two teams in the Peach Bowl?
UCF (12-0, 8-0 in AAC)
The Knights are awesome, and they should keep being awesome even now that head coach Scott Frost has moved on to Nebraska. (He’ll reportedly stick around for the bowl.)
They have an innovative playbook that they’ve used to run roughshod on teams all season, and they’ve spent most of the year destroying teams. The Playoff selection committee never gave them a real shot at joining the top four, even as they piled up resume items that looked a lot like higher-ranked teams from the Power 5.
If you’re able to catch the Knights in their bowl, you’ll like what you see. They have one of the best offenses in the country by any standard, not just for a mid-major. They play good team defense, and they’re just so solid in a way that few teams are. They’re great, period.

Auburn (10-3, 7-1 in SEC)
The Tigers at their best might just be the best team in the country. But in the SEC Championship game, they weren’t at their best. The 28-7 beating by Georgia is the reason why Gus Malzahn’s Auburn team isn’t in the Playoff, and instead settling for a lesser prize.
Auburn’s offense is as varied as it’s ever been, and the insertion of Jarrett Stidham offers a different dimension than the last few seasons with a vertical passing threat. But this game is about whether or not the Tigers are going to show up after being so tantalizingly close to a Playoff berth. If they do, this game will be fun. If not, it may look just like the SEC title game.
