Bart Henderson, Clemson University’s associate athletic director of planned giving, was found dead on Tuesday afternoon, according to The Anderson County Sheriff’s Office, as cited by multiple local outlets, and the university. He had been part of the CU athletics’ staff since 1978, when he joined as an athletic trainer.

Police began searching for Henderson, since Monday evening. Henderson was reported missing from his home in Easley, S.C., which lies 20 minutes northeast of Clemson’s campus.
“Lt. Sheila Cole with the sheriff’s office says someone received an email from Henderson late Sunday night. That was the last communication anyone has had with him,” per the local CBS affiliate.

K-9 teams and Anderson County Technical Rescue were called to assist at the scene through the night.
On Tuesday, morning crews will switch out with overnight crews at about 7 a.m. Horses are also expected to come in at 8 a.m. for mounted searches.
Sheriff Chad McBride said the area where Henderson disappeared is very rural. He said the search started at Henderson’s home but has since expanded.
