Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh is no stranger to voicing his opinion, and that’s especially true when it comes to his Twitter account. Most recently, the SEC Network’s Paul Finebaum was caught in the head coach’s crosshairs.
Jim Harbaugh calls out Donald Trump on Twitter over budget cuts to legal services
Here we go.

The latest target for Harbaugh is now the one and only President Donald Trump. On Tuesday morning, he took to Twitter to express his disapproval regarding Trump’s new budget proposal, which could reportedly eliminate the Legal Services Corporation, the largest funder of civil legal assistance for low-income Americans.
So, what’s Harbaugh’s beef with this anyway? Well, Harbaugh became a member of the LSC’s Leader’s Council in April 2016:
Harbaugh is being announced as a new member of a national council dedicated to raising “awareness of the need for increased funding for civil legal services for the poor.” He will be part of the leaders council for the initiative:
“The first step to more funding is more awareness,” Legal Services Corp. president James Sandman said. “If Jim Harbaugh would simply speak on the issue [of the legal aid crisis] it would be heard differently.”
Last summer, Harbaugh met with fellow LSC members such as Atlanta Mayor Andrew Young and baseball great Hank Aaron to further discuss the Leaders Council.
The goal of the Leaders Council is to raise public awareness of the current crisis in civil legal aid. Council members are leaders from across the United States who understand the barriers low-income Americans face in accessing the civil justice system.
According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, cutting the LSC from the budget would include a substantial amount of money.
Elimination of the Legal Services Corporation would cut $1.4 million from Neighborhood Legal Services, $607,000 from Laurel Legal Services and $416,00 from Southwestern Pennsylvania Legal Services. According to its website, the entire Legal Services Corporation has an annual budget of $375 million.
We’ll see if this develops any further, and if the reports of the LSC cuts are true. If they are, we likely haven’t heard the last from Harbaugh on this one.
