Look at all these empty seats at Maryland’s spring game

Come on, Terps.

Spring games in college football are usually well-attended by fans of bigger programs. Ohio State hauled in over 80,000 last weekend in Columbus, and Nebraska had 78,312 on-hand. Georgia and Clemson had figures in the 60,000s as well.

Well, folks, the Maryland Terps had their spring game on Saturday afternoon, and the turnout in College Park was one of the saddest I have ever seen.

Look, I understand that you may have better things to do with your spring Saturday afternoon than to watch pretty meaningless spring ball, but come on.

The Terps went 6-7 last year, capped off with a 36-30 loss to Boston College in the Quick Lane Bowl in head coach D.J. Durkin’s first-ever season. But Durkin hauled in Maryland’s highest-rated class ever this past Signing Day, and he’s put together a talented staff that looks poised to turn things around at Maryland.

Next year, how about we try and do a little better, Maryland fans.
