Hawaii sees FAU offering a sixth grader a scholarship and raises by extending an offer to a fifth grader.
Hawaii offered a scholarship to a 5th grader, and this has to be a record
Gotta jump on ’em early these days.

Titan Lacaden is an elementary schooler from Kapolei, Hawaii and he’s already halfway home to being a bona-fide recruit by starting a Twitter account to promote the offer. Whether the kid’s behind it or some adult, the account sent this out into the world to signify the achievement.
His Hudl page — yes, the 11-year-old has a Hudl — promotes him as a QB/FS.
We wouldn’t blame you If you think this is a catfishing situation, but Titan’s older brother, Jake, confirmed the news on Twitter. The elder Lacaden sibling currently plays college football at Nevada.
Hawaii has to use some interesting tactics on the recruiting trail simply because of its location. Hawaii’s a five-hour flight from the closet California cities and much farther from pretty much everywhere else on the mainland. That’s why an overwhelming amount of the Warriors’ roster is from the West Coast.
That travel distance makes it cost prohibitive to fly a player out for an official visit, or to have a family come on an unofficial one. The school’s prospect questionnaire has this text box to weed out those just looking for a free trip to the islands:
At least Lacaden isn’t from the mainland, he’ll be close to home if he enrolls at UH in 2025. Whether or not he ends up playing football (or even going to college at all) in the seven years he has to make his choice remains to be seen.
