Jim Harbaugh very literally demonstrates to reporters how loud his QBs should be

Here’s a live snap count at Big Ten Media Days.

CHICAGO – Michigan Wolverines coach Jim Harbaugh spoke Tuesday at Big Ten Media Days, and a big crowd of reporters has followed him around throughout the day. Harbaugh was taking questions in the middle of a phalanx of sportswriters, and he got to talking about Michigan’s quarterbacks. He wants them to be, um, vocal.

Credit to the coach for making his point clear. That’s as crystal-clear a “BLUE 80” as anybody’s heard all offseason.

Wilton Speight is Michigan’s presumed starter and the guy Harbaugh’s going to need to “be loud,” but the coach says Michigan has a QB battle.

“Yes, so Wilton’s in a good spot,” he said. “He comes in really tied for first with John O’Korn and Brandon Peters, legitimately, through competition, throughout all the spring, went through 15 practices and was a dead heat.”

Harbaugh has a different kind of public persona than most of his peers.

He showed up to the media event in his standard Michigan Jumpman shirt and hat, while the 13 other Big Ten coaches wore jackets and ties.

The rationale is fair enough:

Harbaugh’s different, but he’s good.
