Saturday marked the start of the college football season with the kickoff of Oregon State at Colorado State from Fort Collins, Colo. But more importantly, our beloved “beef ref” Mike Defee, who was a referee for last year’s CFP National Championship game between Clemson and Alabama, made a return to the field Saturday.
College football’s BEEF REF is back for 2017
Yep, he’s still buff as hell.

Defee is still pretty jacked, but it looks like he’s just filled out a bit more.
Now, if you aren’t familiar with who “beef ref” or Defee is, he made quite the impression on social media during the Alabama-Clemson matchup in January for his jacked arms.
Ironically enough, after the game the ref was involved in a short-lived conspiracy theory that the ref was a Clemson fan, who has a daughter that goes to school at Clemson. It was subsequently debunked by my colleague Alex Kirshner:
On the left, that’s Kelsy DeFee and Mike DeFee, who is her father. On the right, that’s Beef Ref Mike DeFee, who is decidedly not Kelsy’s father and not the man wearing Clemson orange and white. Let’s have a better look:
Not the same.
Anyway, college football fans thank you for your beefy return, Mr. Defee.
