Vanderbilt endured one of 2017’s worst beatdowns when Alabama came to Nashville and did everything but raze their stadium to the ground in a 59-0 destruction. The question now is how the Commodores will respond after the Crimson Tide derailed their 3-0 start — especially now that they’ve got to face a team that’s traditionally owned them.

Vanderbilt at Florida news:
- Vanderbilt’s “we want Bama” chants ended about as poorly as they possibly could.
That’s Alabama freshman backup quarterback Tua Tagovailoa pulling off a little Johnny Football action against Vanderbilt. The Tide had already piled up 45 points, covering the over by themselves with 20 minutes to go, all against a team that’d given up only seven points to Kansas State the week prior. Bama’s still Bama.
- Nine Florida players will head into Saturday’s game while facing multiple felony charges.
The players who face a handful of charges each are starting wide receiver Antonio Callaway; starting running back Jordan Scarlett; receiver Rick Wells; linebackers James Houston and Ventrell Miller; and defensive linemen Jordan Smith, Keivonnis Davis, and Richerd Desir-Jones, while offensive lineman Kadeem Telfort faces a whopping 30 potential charges.
- The Gators have no intention of overlooking Vanderbilt, recent history be damned.
Sure, the Commodores were steamrolled by the top-ranked Tide last weekend, but Jim McElwain notes that the scores of the last two Florida-Vanderbilt games were 9-7 and 13-6. And that those were both noon kicks - as is Saturday’s meeting.
Will the Gators be able to move the ball against Derek Mason’s defense?
Florida has beaten Vanderbilt in each of the past two seasons despite scoring just 22 total points — the only thing that’s saved the Gators is an anemic Commodore offense. Vandy has moved the ball better in 2017 than it has in any of the past three seasons, and that will put pressure on Feleipe Franks to move the ball and find the end zone against a stout defense. The Commodores no longer have Zach Cunningham at linebacker, but after hamstringing Kansas State to seven points, they’ll give Florida one of its toughest offensive tests of 2017.
Vanderbilt at Florida prediction:
Vanderbilt needs to bounce back and get back on the trajectory that helped them upset Kansas State in Week 3. The Commodore defense will benefit from an offensive attack that does more than just go three-and-out, giving them a slight edge in a close, low-scoring, downright sloppy affair.
