The Mississippi State Bulldogs’ run as a top 20 team lasted just one week after Georgia stomped out the program’s hopes for an undefeated season in a 31-3 beatdown. If the Bulldogs can’t perform better against the Auburn Tigers, they’ll fall out of the rankings entirely. Mississippi State will head east to Alabama when they face the Tigers; kickoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET and will be broadcast live on ESPN (live stream).
Mississippi State vs. Auburn 2017 live stream: Time and how to watch online
A top-25 battle could determine Alabama’s biggest threat in the SEC West.

Auburn has rebounded from a Week 2 loss to Clemson with wins over Mercer and Missouri, but they’ll face a significantly tougher challenge Saturday. The Bulldogs have ground down opponents with a bruising rushing attack that has averaged 267 yards per game this fall. If the Tigers can’t stop them, they’ll head into October looking for their first quality win of the year.

Mississippi State at Auburn news:
- Yeah, so let’s just pretend Auburn doesn’t have any sports other than football. It typically works for Auburn fans.
Auburn University is responding to federal charges being brought against assistant head coach Chuck Person by offering full refunds to any fans who no longer want their season tickets.
Person was named in the FBI investigation in a complaint Tuesday for allegedly accepting payment from advisers and managers in exchange for directing his players to them as part of a larger scheme that also involved apparel manufacturers.
- How can Auburn stop Mississippi State’s offense? Georgia laid a pretty good blueprint.
Dan Mullen’s offense is rather different from the Irish attack. While MSU often plays with a tight end, it prefers to operate on the perimeter with spread-option concepts. Georgia aligned mostly in nickel and worked to deny MSU access to the perimeter.
- No, Mississippi State fans shouldn’t overreact to last week’s beatdown loss.
- Was hanging 51 points on a rotten Missouri defense anything more than a one-week fix for the Tigers?
This wide receiving core that has struggled to show up the first three weeks came to play and showed us a glimmer of that potential we all hoped to see. The offensive game plan was built around getting all the weapons involved and attacked the defense where they were vulnerable. There were zero Auburn turnovers. Those are all positive signs of change, regardless of the opponent.
Which of these teams is selling wolf tickets?
Auburn’s best win of the season came against a Missouri team that had been stomped out by Purdue the week before. Mississippi State’s best was over an LSU team that seems to have been entirely overrated, and they followed that up by getting swarmed by Georgia. Were the Bulldogs a flash in the pan? Have the Tigers been the beneficiary of a soft schedule outside their game against Clemson? We’ll have a better idea Saturday night.
Mississippi State at Auburn prediction:
Auburn’s biggest claim to being elite in 2017 is hanging tough with Clemson — which isn’t nothing. This game should be closer than the 9-point spread suggests, but home-field advantage should play a role in a close Tiger victory.
