We have all you need to know to watch Oklahoma State take on Texas Tech on Saturday.

In eight of the last 10 meetings between these two teams, the winner has scored 45 points or more. It’s a series that Texas Tech leads, 21-20-3, so it’s a very narrow gap. Oklahoma State, though, has taken the last eight meetings between the two.
The Cowboys won the last meeting, 45-44, and prior to that put up 70 points in victory. The last time Texas Tech won was in 2008, when they broke the 50-point margin themselves in a 56-20 drubbing.
That said, Oklahoma State is coming off a humbling 44-31 defeat at the hands of TCU in their last outing, and are 3-1 on the season. Texas Tech will still enter this meeting as the underdog, but they put together a very impressive defensive effort against Houston in their last meeting, a 27-24 victory. They are 3-0 on the season.

Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech news:
- Penalties are one of the big issues for Texas Tech three games into the season. They continue to make bone-headed mistakes, and against a team on the level of Oklahoma State, those kind of penalties will be deadly, as noted by the folks at Viva The Matadors.
- Unsurprisingly, Oklahoma State lost their spot in the top 10 of the AP Top 25 following their loss to TCU. They were previously ranked No. 6 in the nation, but following the loss dropped all the way own to No. 15, with TCU taking the No. 9 spot.
- The folks at Cowboys Ride For Free took an opposing view of the Texas Tech air attack, and they note it’s going to be a problem for Oklahoma State:
As you can see, these guys can hurt you in so many ways through the air, and they are more dangerous in the passing game than TCU. Not to mention they’ve also had success with their running game this season, which makes them even more dangerous. They went for over 300 yards through the air and over 200 on the ground last week against Houston, and the Cowboy defense will have to put on a better defensive showing than they did against the Horned Frogs if they want to slow down this high-flying offensive attack.
- Is the Big 12 back as a top-tier conference? It’s certainly possible after what Oklahoma did to Ohio State.
I don’t like the guy, and I’d wager you don’t like him either - but Baker Mayfield marched Oklahoma into The Horseshoe and beat Ohio State. That game could prove pivotal should the Big 12 have a team in the playoff conversation. I know we’re early in the season, but we’ve seen West Virginia go toe to toe with Virginia Tech, TCU whoop Arkansas, Texas play well against USC, and our Red Raiders execute against two notable foes. While Texas Tech fans more/less hate everyone else, we do care about results that better our own interests. So, if Iowa State looking respectable means we might land better recruits in the future - then we can get down with that.
Oklahoma State vs. Texas Tech prediction:
While Texas Tech is a lot better than most give them credit for, Oklahoma State should be able to stop the bleeding and get back in the win column. They should have beaten TCU, and face similar issues with the Red Raiders offense, but they will bounce back and secure the win on Saturday, as most expect.
