East-West Shrine Game 2018 rosters: J.T. Barrett, Justin Jackson highlight powerful offenses

College football’s oldest all-star game will get a boost in ‘18.

The East-West Shrine Game isn’t the biggest college football all-star game out there, but that doesn’t mean 2018’s exhibition is lacking in big names. Fans not quite ready to say goodbye to the gridiron will have one last chance to watch players like J.T. Barrett, Justin Jackson, Riley Ferguson, and Ralph Webb before they suit up on Sundays next fall.

The Shrine Game may not be brimming with first-round talent, but this year’s event will bring together some of the NCAA’s most accomplished seniors and give them a major opportunity to impress NFL scouts. That includes Barrett, who piloted a crushing Ohio State offense to the 2017 Big Ten title, Ferguson, who guided Memphis to the doorstep of a New Year’s Day bowl, and tailbacks like Jackson and Webb, who ran for more yards than anyone else in their programs’ respective histories.

They’ll hope to follow in the footsteps of players like Deatrich Wise Jr., Tajae Sharpe, Joe Thuney, and Anthony Zettel — athletes whose Shrine Game appearances were precursors to NFL success. The 2018 game will unite players from the FBS and FCS, as well as drawing some of Canada’s top collegiate talent. They’ll have the opportunity to be coached by Bengals tight ends coach Jonathan Hayes, who will lead the East team, and Raiders tight ends coach Bobby Johnson, who heads the West.
