College football rivalries last 365 days a year, folks. On Monday, ahead of the National Championship between Alabama and Georgia, a seemingly innocent Instagram post from the Georgia Tech admissions office’s official Instagram account caused a stir among Yellow Jacket fans.
A Georgia Tech Instagram account posted a Photoshop in support of archrival Georgia
It didn’t go well.

Here’s the post that was up for about three hours before being deleted. As you can see, it’s a photoshopped version of a real photo in which Tech fans show support for the Atlanta Falcons, who also wear red and black.
The photoshopped version appears to have surfaced around the Super Bowl last year. We found it posted on Twitter by a Georgia fan in that February, but deleted from that account as well.
Sooo yeah, this could definitely have been a hack of some kind! Also, funny side note — there’s someone wearing a Julio Jones jersey in this photo, Roll Tide!
Let’s just say the commenters on the post were not too happy with the message of support for the Dawgs, and rightfully so, as Tech and UGA are bitter rivals.
Although whoever was running the account at the time tried to be a voice of reason in the middle of it all.
Georgia State is also on-board with the supporting UGA train:
SB Nation attempted to call the GT admissions office regarding the Instagram post, but Tech’s campus is closed today due to inclement weather. We’ll update this story if it develops!
