It’s Friday night in October, and the main sporting event you’re probably concerned with is the World Series. Game three of the series between the Boston Red Sox and the Los Angeles Dodgers was in LA, and that had an effect on some college football games in both Boston and LA that were held at the same time.
The World Series wreaked havoc on college football crowds in Boston and Los Angeles
Home games at Boston College and UCLA looked a bit empty on the same night as Game 3 of the World Series.

At 7 p.m. ET. the Boston College Eagles played a home game at Alumni Stadium against the Miami Hurricanes. The turnout well, was expected on the same night as a home World Series game in Boston:
The crowd filled out a lot more by the time the game got underway, though:
And coincidentally, this was the crowd at kickoff at a UCLA Bruins game a few hours later, who played at home in the Rose Bowl against Utah:
Look, I’m not bashing BC or Dodgers fans at all here — it’s no secret that either going to or watching a World Series game is a little more appealing than going to a home college football game on a Friday night. Perhaps it’s just typical LA traffic/lateness for the Bruins’ crowd, so we’ll see if the Rose Bowl fills up like Alumni Stadium did.
Have fun tonight, Boston and LA sports fans!
