As a general rule, LSU does not beat Alabama. The Tide have won seven in a row, last falling on Nov. 5, 2011, in an ugly but awesome game in Tuscaloosa that preceded the Tide then beating the Tigers in the BCS Championship all of two months later.
Every single year, LSU’s hype video suckers us into believing they can beat Bama
And this is gonna be the year it happens!

Yet the game is still huge most years, and it’s huge this year, too. The No. 1 Tide are two-touchdown road favorites against the No. 3 Tigers, the biggest spread for a top-four home underdog in at least decades. So the ingredients are all in place for an epic night in Baton Rouge. It’s a huge game with title stakes, and the home team is a massive underdog.
That means it’s HYPE VIDEO TIME:
HELL YEAH. I AM READY TO CHARGE HEADLONG THROUGH 18 GLASS DOORS AND SEVEN BRICK WALLS AND THEN POUR A VAT OF BOILING WATER OVER MY HEAD BEFORE LETTING MIKE THE TIGER OUT OF HIS HABITAT AND INSTALLING HIM AT LINEBACKER. LSU BY 40.
There are hype videos all over the place every year, but this is a hype video.
Of course, LSU produces an amazing hype video that riles people up before every Bama game, and the results are never what you’d expect after watching it.
Before 2012’s game:
HELL YEAH.
(Alabama 21, LSU 17)
Before 2013’s game:
LET’S GO.
(Alabama 38, LSU 17)
Before 2014’s game:
IT’S TIME.
(Alabama 20, LSU 13)
Before 2015’s game:
BATTEN DOWN THE HATCHES, BECAUSE THE TIGAHS ARE COMING.
(Alabama 30, LSU 16)
Before 2016’s game:
I SWEAR ON MY FAMILY, THIS IS GONNA BE OUR YEAR.
(Alabama 10, LSU 0)
Before 2017’s game:
I AM READY FOR THE RAPTURE. LSU IS GONNA WIN TODAY.
(Alabama 24, LSU 10)
BUT THIS TIME IS GONNA BE DIFFERENT.
I can feel it in my bones.
