Big 12 players and coaches call out A&M assistant in response to conference smack talk

Don’t sleep on #offSZN Twitter.

We’ve entered the college football offseason, and with that sometimes comes heightened levels of trash-talking, partially thanks to no actual games being played. One person who’s engaging in such talk is new Aggies tight end coach Tim Brewster, who has some takes on the Big 12 vs. the SEC:

Brewster went over to College Station following Jimbo Fisher, who he coached under at Florida State. One day later, Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger responded to Brewster’s tweet, and he even mentioned Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa.

This is just another development in the post-breakup of the Texas-Texas A&M rivalry. Even though they haven’t played each other since 2011, the two can’t help but mention each other from time to time.

But back to Brewster, who is no stranger to talking up whatever conference he’s coaching in. Last summer when Fisher, along with other conference head coaches, claimed the ACC was the best conference in football, Brewster was right on board:

Other Big 12 coaches have noticed Brewster’s conference trash talk. Here’s Oklahoma assistant Cale Gundy:

Gundy’s brother, Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy even chimed in:

But Brewster wasn’t always working for a certain team when offering his opinions on conferences — he had this to say about the SEC when he was in between jobs after coaching at Minnesota and before joining Mississippi State’s staff in 2012:

So to sum it all up: The SEC is better than the Big 12, which has regional rivalry games, but the ACC is the best, pretty much. As for other conferences, uh, there’s not much from him!

We’ll see what Brewster has to say next.
